Overview of the project
This project seeks to support the realization of commitments made by Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya at the London Anti-Corruption Summit in May 2016 on Beneficial Ownership transparency, by way of establishing public register for beneficial owners of companies. Being supported by TI-S, this project is being implemented by TI chapters in Kenya and Ghana, and Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) being the national contact of Transparency International in Nigeria and the implementing partner for the realization of Beneficial Ownership commitment in Nigeria.
- To engage and increase awareness of relevant stakeholders across Civil Society, Government, Private Sector and law enforcement to collaborate and progress plans on how to collect, share and use beneficial ownership information to tackle corruption in Nigeria.
- To advocate for the establishment/ implementation of Legal Frameworks that support Beneficial Ownership Transparency.
- To build a critical mass of practitioners advocating for the inclusion of beneficial ownership components in relevant government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) processes and private sector to increase Transparency in governance.
