Strengthening Accountability in the Nigerian Defence Sector
The project works to reduce defence corruption risks and strengthen accountability in the Nigerian defence sector and it would be implemented through a two-phased approach. The first phase will focus on public demand and political will for anti-corruption reforms in the defence and security space through promotion of a common understanding of the corruption risks in the defence and security sector among key stakeholders including Civil Societies (CS); supporting strategic mechanisms to address the identified risks; facilitating of a platform for CS to influence and monitor the sector. In doing this, it will set up an enabling environment for the strategy and future activities.
- Improved understanding of corruption risk areas in the defence sector among their leaders as well as existence of strategies to address them;
- Increased capacity civil society to influence and monitor defence reforms;
- Increased understanding of the general public on how defence corruption affects citizens;
