Strengthening Accountability in the Nigerian Defence Sector

Overview:

The project works to reduce defence corruption risks and strengthen accountability in the Nigerian defence sector and it would be implemented through a two-phased approach. The first phase will focus on public demand and political will for anti-corruption reforms in the defence and security space through promotion of a common understanding of the corruption risks in the defence and security sector among key stakeholders including Civil Societies (CS); supporting strategic mechanisms to address the identified risks; facilitating of a platform for CS to influence and monitor the sector. In doing this, it will set up an enabling environment for the strategy and future activities.

Key Objectives

  1. Improved understanding of corruption risk areas in the defence sector among their leaders as well as existence of strategies to address them;
  2. Increased capacity civil society to influence and monitor defence reforms;
  3. Increased understanding of the general public on how defence corruption affects citizens;
