Tackling Inequalities in West Africa through Transparent, Accountable and Participatory Governance

 

Background

The project, , was formulated in collaboration with TI-S in Berlin to support the contribution of various state and non-state actors efforts in enhancing transparency, accountability and participatory governance in combating corruption.

 

Objective(s) of the project:

The main objective of the project in Nigeria is to strengthen the presence of TI and the anti-corruption movement at large in the country through enhanced accountability, transparency and public engagement.
Underlying the aforementioned objective is the realization that, with coordination and support, a vibrant civil society in Nigeria in partnership with relevant government agencies saddled with coordination of anti-corruption efforts in the country will play crucial roles.

 

Specific Objectives:

  • To provide forum for Civil Society to offer strategic and substantive guidance on the project implementation;
  • To strengthen the project understanding of the roleCSOs play in fighting corruption and how this role could be reinforced in collaboration with other relevant government agencies saddled with anti-corruption efforts coordination; and
  • To strengthen the presence of TI and the anti-corruption movement at large in the countrythrough enhanced accountability, transparency and public engagement and monitor the overall progress and implementation of project activities and providing guidance for the different outputs.

 

Project Outcomes:

Therefore this project aims to see the following as outcomes by the end of the project implementation:

  1. Inauguration of TI local advisory group in Nigeria is established and functional
  2. Coordinated implementation of TI’s Nigeria Strategy is effective and robust.
  3. Coordinated action among anti-corruption stakeholders in Nigeria
  4. That CISLAC is positioned and better equipped to coordinate civil society anti-corruption efforts and granted the status of TI National Chapter in formation.
