This work attempts an analysis of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) 2009-2011 Audit Report from a civil society perspective. The NEITI audit in question was conducted by Sada, Idris and Co. (Chartered Accountants). It is the first to be done by Sada, Idris & Co. After the three successive ones conducted by the hart Group and SS Afemikhe &Co.(Chartered Accountants).
Since its establishment seven years ago, CISLAC has been in the forefront of efforts to strengthen the performance of EITI implementation in Nigeria through greater information dissemination and capacity building for stakeholders – citizens, civil society, media, state and the national and state assemblies. This particular publication build on the past edition of analyses of NEITI audit reports. Coming on the heel of the official launch of the 2013 Resource Governance Index (RGI) in which Nigeria ranked ‘weak’ with 40th position out of 58 countries evaluated, it is our hope that it will create the desired impact by being the big push that the country requires to transform the oil and gas sector. We recommend it to all those interested in pushing for the positive change that Nigeria desperately need. Please contact us to request publications.
