Communiqué Issued at the End of a One Day Stakeholders’ Forum on the Right to Food Legislation in Nigeria Held at Bolton White Hotel on the 26th February, 2013
  
Preamble
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) with support from Oxfam in Nigeria organized a One Day Stakeholders’ Forum on the Right to Food Legislation in Nigeria. The forum was held at the Bolton White Hotel, FCT, Abuja on 26th February 2013. The meeting had 53 participants comprising of representatives of members of relevant Committees of the National Assembly, including those on Agriculture, MDGs, environment and Women Affairs. The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, National Emergency Management Agency, National Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Environment, CSOs and representatives of the media were also in attendance.

Communique Issued at the end of a one day Policy Dialogue on Food Security in Nigeria held in the Hudson Hall of Bolton White Hotels on the 7th day of February, 2013
Preamble
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) with support from Oxfam in Nigeria organized a one day Policy Dialogue Session on Food Security in Nigeria. The dialogue was held at the Bolton White Hotel, FCT, Abuja on 7th January 2013. The meeting had 37 participants comprising of representatives of members of various House Committees in the National Assembly. Committees on Women Affairs, Agriculture, Environment as well as staff Ministry of Environment, Women Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency, Women Community Centre, CSOs and participation from media representatives.

PREAMBLE
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, CISLAC with support from Pact-Nigeria, organized a roundtable meeting involving relevant Committees of the House of Representatives on the implementation of the NEITI process and emerging issues. The roundtable was attended by 40 participants, including some Chairmen and members of the House Committees on Petroleum Upstream, Downstream, Gas Resources, Solid Minerals and Public Accounts, the Executive Secretary and staff of NEITI, CSOs and the Media. COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT A ONE DAY CAPACITY BUILDING SESSION FOR CSOs & CBOs ON POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY FOR FOOD SECURITY HELD AT THE SOKOTO GUEST INN, SOKOTO STATE ON THE 27TH NOVEMBER, 2012.
PREAMBLE:
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) organized a one day Capacity Building session for CSOs and CBOs in Sokoto State on Policy and Legislative Advocacy for Food Security, with support from Oxfam GB. The training drew 20 participants from the State House of Assembly, NGOs, CBOs, FBO, media and Sokoto State Agricultural Development Programme, State Food & Nutrition Committee and the people living with disabilities. COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT A ONE DAY CAPACITY BUILDING SESSION FOR CSOs & CBOs ON POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY FOR FOOD SECURITY HELD AT THE EMERALD ROYAL HILL HOTEL, GOMBE, GOMBE STATE ON THE 12TH NOVEMBER, 2012.
PREAMBLE:
 The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) organized a one day Capacity Building session for CSOs and CBOs in Gombe State on Policy and Legislative Advocacy for Food Security, with support from Oxfam GB. The training drew 28 participants from the State House of Assembly, NGOs, CBOs, FBO, media and Gombe State Agricultural Development Programme. After exhaustive deliberations on the issues, the following observations and recommendations were made:

Preamble

Civil Society organisations in Nigeria at the presentation of a report titled ‘Baseline Study on Tax in Nigeria and Launching of National Platform on Tax Justice’ on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 launched a National Platform on Tax Justice Research and Advocacy with the aim of engaging the government in raising awareness on the need for a just, equitable and efficient Tax System.

The study which was commissioned by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), with support from Oxfam Novib, examined the tax system in Nigeria, paying special attention to relationship between tax, social inequality, resource mobilisation for national development and accountability in governance.

Communiqué Issued at the end of a 2-day Multi Stakeholders’ Conference on IDP Protection in Nigeria and the African Union Convention on the protection and Assistance of IDPs held at the Bolton White Hotel, Abuja on 21st and 22nd November 2011

Introduction

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Abuja in partnership with the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre / Norwegian Refugee Centre (IDMC/NRC), Geneva, Switzerland organized a 2-day multi stakeholders’ conference on Internally Displace Persons (IDPs). The Conference was aimed at examining the plight of IDPs in Nigeria in the light of relevant international and domestic legal frameworks including the Kampala Convention and designing a plan of action for its ratification and domestication, as well as identifying measures for attaining durable solutions to the challenges of internal displacements in Nigeria.

The Conference was attended by about 75 participants drawn from Civil Society and Faith Based Organizations, the academia, international and national humanitarian assistance providing Agencies, relevant government institutions and the media.  There were four plenary sessions in which nine presentations were made by Resource Persons and representatives of relevant organizations and Agencies. The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) with support from the Heinrich Boll Foundation organized a One day capacity building workshop for members and staff of the committees of the Benue State House of Assembly and Civil Society in the State. Communique issued at the end of the Training-the-Trainers Capacity Building on the Public Procurement Act (PPA) 2007 Monitoring and Observation for CSOs held at D’Rovans Hotel Ibadan on June 4, 2010.

Communique issued at the end of the Training-the-Trainers Capacity Building on the Public Procurement Act (PPA) 2007 Monitoring and Observation for CSOs held at D’Rovans Hotel Ibadan on June 4, 2010.

 The workshop, which was organized by Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) in collaboration with Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), had a consortium of CSOs and other Non-State Actors (NSAs) in attendance.  Also in attendance are the Executive Director of CISLAC Auwal Musa Rafsanjani and the Director General, BPP Engr. Ezeh Emeka represented by Mohammed Gambo Mu’azu, Deputy Director Training at BPP. 57 Participants attended the training with three key paper presentations.

The objectives of the workshop are as follows:

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) with support from the United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC) organized a One Day Capacity Building Workshop for CSOs, CBOs and FBOs on Budget Tracking on MDGs Allocation.  The workshop was held at the Ni’ma Guest Palace Hotel, Nasarawa Kano State on 3rd June 2010.
