The State of the Union Nigeria Report 2013 is a study to audit and monitor compliance and implementation of protocols, conventions and decisions of the African Union (AU) Member States of which Nigeria is party to. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has provided for the domestication of all international treaties that Nigeria ratified. The report focuses on the achievement of economic, social, political and cultural rights, which aim to improve standards of living of the citizens if well implemented. The study evaluates the gaps between policy and practice to ensure that the policies developed at the AU level have a positive impact on the development prospects at the national level. Generally, the results and the best emerging practices of the study will be used to engage with the AU Member States at the national, regional and continental level.
While the study has provided some useful recommendations, which if fully implemented will without doubt result to the betterment in standards of living for the millions of Nigerians; fast-track the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); and reduce poverty rate. Click here for more
