COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF AN EXECUTIVE, LEGISLATIVE, CSOs AND MEDIA ROUNDTABLE ON FINANCING FOR NUTRITION IN BAUCHI STATE ORGANIZED BY CIVIL SOCIETY LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY CENTRE (CISLAC) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND (UNICEF) HELD AT DESTINATION BAUCHI HOTEL, BAUCHI STATE ON 11TH OCTOBER, 2018.

Preamble

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre in partnership with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) organized a Roundtable Dialogue. The Dialogue aimed at bringing under one roof the state’s executive, legislative, CSOs and the media to identify opportunities for financing nutrition, understand existing efforts by the State towards increasing domestic investment for nutrition and address nutrition emergency, giving cognizance to the importance of timely release of funds for nutrition, increased domestic investment for the scale-up of CMAM, and increased budget line for nutrition in Bauchi state. CISLAC URGES PRIORITIZATION AND REVISITING THE PASSAGE OF THE PIGB

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre urges the National Assembly and the Executive to re-visit and prioritize the passage of the PIGB into law.

We recall that the National Assembly had passed the PIGB and sent it to the president for Assent. However, while the legislature was on recess, the president withheld his assent to the Bill raising some issues he was said to be uncomfortable with.

CISLAC recollects that the progress recorded so far in getting a law to regulate the oil and gas sector and deepen the reforms proposed by this administration has been a result of the initiative, proactiveness, doggedness and resilience of the two chambers of the NASS, which is quite commendable.

Job Title:             Legislative Advocacy Liaison Officer (LALO)

Job Location:      Abuja

 

Role Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the position has responsibility for ensuring smooth legislative programme engagements by CISLAC with the legislature and other relevant government agencies both at national and state levels. In collaboration with other Programme Managers, the position will help to identify and define issues relating to key governance issues and coordinate necessary analysis, and participate in the formulation and implementation of legislative advocacy engagement approaches and strategies.

 

The Legislative Advocacy Liaison Officer (LALO) will assist in the development and implementation of legislative programmes of CISLAC. The position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining contact with members and staff of the National and State Legislatures, key line Ministries, Department and Parastatals, and other national and international advocacy organizations and agencies that are focused on legislative issues.
